Week 31&32

Developments over the past two weeks:
Clapping (super cute!!), looking for Sushi when we say his name, hitting things together to make sounds, jibber-jabbering in conversation with syllables such as baba, dada, and ahah. Growing out of her 6-12 mo clothes and now wearing 12-18 mo outfits. More hair! (still blonde tho...)

Swim class

Lyssa started swim class last week. Mommy went to take pictures and videos. But this week they were off on their own while mommy stayed home for some quiet time to herself. During this time, she caught up on blogs, made dinner, ordered groceries, and picked up. She also found a little time to lie down for a quick break :)

It's amazing to think about this time a year ago-- I had no little munchkin crawling around underfoot while I tried to get things done. Or to keep me occupied instead of getting said things done. I barely remember having the freedom to run an errand, bake cookies, clean, or do countless other things uninterrupted. Worth it? Oh my goodness yes. Do I ever wish for some quiet time? Well, Lyssa and daddy are taking swimming without mommy, right? ;)

30 weeks

I remember being pregnant at 30 weeks... It seemed as if the pregnancy had gone by so slow and here I had another 2 1/2 mo to wait. I was getting impatient to meet this little bundle of blessings that had begun to turn my womb into a jungle gym. It's endearing now to see her energy and then recall how she had spurts of activity before she was born. She would go into fits of kicking, rolling, punching, and all sorts of exercise, mostly right before bed (of course), and keep at it for a good hour or more. And now to see her so active and remember those times are so sweet.

Major developments this week: she is starting to use gestures more. Reaching for mommy or daddy, jabbering with her hands, or to indicate excitement. She is also showing interest in putting things places, such as her toys back in the bucket or her paci in her mouth; she is especially interested in sharing her paci or whatever she is playing with-- she doesn't get why mommy and daddy don't want her deliciously slobbery paci or block in their mouths too...

She is still eating like a little champion athlete. Anything and everything, even if there's a face to go along with it. She has discovered how much fun celery is to chew on. She's entertained for awhile during dinner prep. Such a good chew toy :)

She is officially in 12 mo clothes. And could stand to be in 18 mo... *Tear* mommy's baby girl is growing too too fast.

7 months!

Lyssa is flying through her infancy... Mommy is having a hard time keeping up with the speed of each passing week. My baby girl is crawling, pulling herself up, jabbering away to anyone who will listen (no words yet), and busily exploring the world around her.

Developments: crawling very well; pulling herself up; refining motor skills, especially with her fingers and hands; discovering things such as outlets, cords, CDs on the cd rack, mommy's studio supplies and music books, drawers, shoes, and the list continues. She is occupied for a short time by her toys but then wants to crawl all over and under everything.

Favorites: Peas (she picks them up with amazing dexterity and rarely do they find themselves in her mouth); knocking over block towers (she can't leave them up- it bugs her to have a tower); crawling under the piano to play with the pedals (she LOVES the pedals on mommy's piano and beelines it to the piano every chance she gets); bath time; her blankie; bouncing in her doorway bouncer to music; time with mommy and daddy.
