8 weeks

Lyssa weighed in at 13lbs, 12 1/2oz and 25 in long. Such a big girl!! She got the first set of her 2 mo immunizations. Almost broke my heart to hear her not-so-little cries. Mommy doesn't like shots- for her or her baby girl...
Mommy, Lyssa, and Sushi were on our own this week- daddy had a job in DC from Sunday through Friday. We did just fine- cooking, cleaning, walking, playing, and spending time together. Nights were long without him being there with mommy during Lyssa's feedings, but I slept when she slept. It was an adventure, but we were very happy to have him come home.

7 weeks

Our beautiful little Lyssa is 7 weeks old. She is reacting more and more to us when we talk and her smiles are just priceless. Her favorite things to stare at are mommy's or daddy's face, her swing mirror, and bright lights.

Aunt Kate's visit

Aunt Kate is here to see her niece. We have had so much fun visiting together.

6 weeks

Our baby girl is halfway to three months... It's hard to believe. She is approaching 13lbs and is wearing some 3-6 mo, even a few 6-9 mo, clothes already. Of course, clothing sizes differ drastically; but it is amazing how she will be too small for an outfit one week and then too big for it the next.
She is smiling a lot now, even starting to add a giggle or kick to her happy mood. She likes to sing, these precious little cooing sounds- almost like a little musical conversation with herself. She spends time on her playmat every day and is making friends with owl, monkey, lamb, and puppy. The birds and mirror on her swing also entertain her and they often put her to sleep.

Music

Lyssa loves to listen to music. Whether its Bach, Mark O'Connor, Paganini, or Jim Brickman, she is already appreciating the sounds she hears. She was intrigued today by daddy playing his violin for her. He was rewarded with a few smiles.

Mirror mirror

Lyssa discovered the mirror last night. The faces were classic. Unfortunately we only caught a few of them in picture...

5 weeks

Lyssa had her 1 month checkup on Thursday and is on the 95 percentile for weight and height, measuring in at 11lbs and 23in. Milestones for this month are smiles and eye contact, which we've started to see much to our delight. She also holds her head up every chance she gets.

A thoughtful visit

Aunt Becca came to meet her darling little niece over the long holiday weekend- and also took care of mommy and daddy in the process. It was pure joy to have her here and we're going to miss her now that she's leaving.

Progress!

Baby girl is holding her head up by herself now! She pushes up with her arms to see the world and keeps that little head steady and strong. Her ability to find and maintain eye contact is also vastly improving- its so sweet that she is able to hold our gazes with hers.

4 weeks

They have flown by... Lyssa is now lifting her head, making eye contact and following voices, spending more time awake, and starting to calm herself for bed (hallelujah!!). She's also had a few smiles and giggles, but she doesn't know what they are yet. However, they are so precious!!
She got to meet Aunties Denise and Becca on Friday- Denise came up for a visit; Becca is up for a long weekend. We spent the afternoon and evening at the beach- Lyssa had her first dip in the ocean (toes only) and experiencing the sandy beach. She did so well!
